Description
Siblings lost in a snowstorm, trying to find shelter.
This was a little too big to my scanner so my signature and a part of the raven's wing cut out of the picture. :\
Watercolours + white acrylic and charcoal

I've come back many times to look at this again, and think about why it evokes so much sympathy in me.
There's something innocent and extra heart-tugging about it being a brother and sister. Most adults can't or are too afraid to remember just how fearful and lonely it was as a child to have no grown-up to take care of you (or to have some that failed to protect you from danger when you were just small and weak). But this painting captures it.
I suppose I find it relate-able and it prompts me to feel compassion for myself and for the people around me, and the scars they bear. That's why I keep returning to reflect on it again. It's more tenderness that the average person is capable of expressing well in art (IMHO). I appreciate you having shared it here.
